On October 26 through November 1, 2006, changes are being made within myUCF to provide expanded functionality and improve the user interface, as well as update the look and feel.
The term 'Polaris' will no longer be used. Instead, all self-service functionality will be contained within the myUCF navigation. The area in myUCF previously named 'Polaris Fac/Advis Self Service' will be "Faculty/Advisor Self Service." In addition, "Polaris Employee Self Service" will be "Employee Self Service" and "Polaris Student Self Service" will be "Student Self Service." Also, the "
Along with the new look and feel, new myUCF functionality will also be available. This includes a myUCF 'search' and 'My Links' feature. The search allows users to find various resources contained inside the portal by keyword, in addition to browsing through the menus. My Links allows users to add any page inside of myUCF to their own list of links. Web pages outside of myUCF can also be added, and all links can be organized into folders as desired. Both the search and My Links will appear in the myUCF header and follow users throughout the site for ease of navigation.
Another addition to myUCF is a new pagelet called 'myUCF news.' This pagelet replaces the "Portal News" pagelet, which was available after logging into the system. It will appear on the login page of the portal, and serves to help keep all users informed of myUCF maintenance updates and future plans. In addition, it spotlights portal functionality that users may not be aware of and provides a mechanism for users to send in feedback for consideration of future portal enhancements.
With this new version of myUCF, all other functionality that was in the previous myUCF version will stay intact.

Web ServicesFall 2005 Update
2006/05/05
MyUCF provides identified UCF community members with a personalized gateway to institutional information and applications from one secure, centralized location. Each user has access to various Web systems and tools based upon their roles within the university community. Users are able to personalize their pages to suit their particular needs.
On, February 25, 2004, it was released to all employees. In April 2004, it was released to select student groups, and in July 2004 to all students.
In August 6, 2005, MyUCF was upgraded to include new software, which is being tested. The new software will allow for the creation of "sub-portals" or Web sites within the portal, than can take advantage of portal personalization technology and access to Peoplesoft data and functionality such as authentication.
Ideas are being generated for additional roles into the portal. We are looking at adding more roles, which will allow defined segments of the UCF community to access needed resources, without cluttering everyone's screens.
Development has begun on a MyUCF news pagelet, which will spotlight MyUCF features, provide articles about what is coming next with the portal, have a feedback form for users to send in their ideas and take a portal survey, and provide information on upcoming maintenance. This is due out late Fall 2005 or Spring 2006.
A new design of MyUCF is due out in early Spring 2006. It will have a new look and feel, and will incorporate new branding for all the self-service pages for increased ease of navigation. It will also feature new functionality in the way of a portal search and a My Links area for personal favorites.
